A terminally ill office clerk watches his life collapse ; his ex-wife gets re-married, he loses his job and his young daughter is a bitch. Watching all social values and ethics turn into dust, he decides to go on a killing spree, killing people that he believes have lost the meaning of life and the life of others. A confused teenager follows him along his bloody way...
Bobcat Goldthwait directs a film that I must say was missing a long time now from the overall idea of cinema. With a script that characterizes our times more than anything else, this film gives equal doses of black humor, social anger and nihilism. Idly set in a small town in America (but anyone from the western world can find comparisons for his own place) and full of food for thought, this film is guaranteed to turn on dark thoughts into your heads.
The total weight of acting fall into arms of Joel Murray and Tara Lynne Barr as they are the starring duo. Murray gives off an interesting air of a person defeated by life but who still wants to keep walking and Tara Lynne Barr instantly grabs the mood of confused teens/rebel without a cause of her character.Their performances are not what you would describe as magnificent but at least it is not as cold as the rest of the cast's.
Must watch this : with your chosen close-circle friends who hate society as much as you do. Watch this with evil smiles on your faces and then talk for hours about who you would kill, how you would kill them and why. Return yourself to reality with that nihilist shit !
