The Devil Commands (1941)

Dr. Julian Blair unconventionally experiments with brain waves when his wife is killed in a car accident. He desperately tries to move the interest of his work into finding a way to communicate with the dead, with the mere purpose of talking to his wife again. Soon, the nature of his experiments is revealed...
Edward Dmytryk directs this quite interesting piece of science fiction horror. Exploiting the theme of deranged scientists and their even more deranged creations, this film is drenched in Lovecraft vibe and cosmic terror. The fact that this film was directed when the rest of the world was bathing in blood seems shocking (to me), but even so this is a piece of cinema art worth checking out!
Boris Karloff is one crazy motherfucker. No one could have walked in his shoes better in his role (and many others). He is an actor that truly belongs to his era; that of obscure scientific experiments and breakthroughs, occultism and fantasy without borders.
Must watch this : on a rainy Sunday night, with a cup of tea, wrapped in a blanket.
A little taste of scientific madness

Let me fix your tie for you. There!
In a few minutes my meatloaf will be ready!
