Lock, Stock & Two Smoking Barrels (1998)

Four friends, weed growers, thugs, hard-case mobsters, gamblers and a debt collector with his son all get mixed up in a complex story of crime and violence. Each group clashes with the other in an attempt to control weed, money and two very expensive antique shotguns.
Guy Ritchie's first official appearance as a direct certainly does not disappoint. This film works as a prelude to his further work and sets the standards the new-age manly adventure films. A top-notch cast, die-hard dialogues straight from the tough English underground and characters as real as your mother's tits. In my opinion, Guy Ritchie is the English Tarantino, in the dialogue and character section. Judge for yourself.
Jason Statham's first role and what a role that is. Same deal for the beloved dogface hard-case Vinnie Jones, the debt collector who runs business with his little son. Vas Blackwood, the cult and whacky figure of weed business....Actually the entire cast is a non-stop surprise, with great performances and unique and original characters each leaving their own footprint in this masterpiece.
Must watch this : you will need a joint (or enough alcohol to get slightly drunk) and your English mobster mode on. Watch it with your friends, but the scummy ones, the ones that have been with you in your dirtiest of times and are always down for more fucked-up situations.
