The Graduate (1967)

College graduate Benjamin finds himself in a messy and confusing summer when he starts a sexual relationship with much older Mrs. Robinson. Things get real messed up when Benjamin begins to fall in love with Elaine, Mrs. Robinson's daughter...
Before watching this film, I was expecting to see something like "Hot mature woman artistically seduces young guy-Hot sex". In reality, it was 30 minutes of that and the rest 90 minutes it was a vast trip into the confused mind of Benjamin. Mike Nichols avoids the trap his own film placed and draws a beautiful painting of what it is to be a young person about to start your own life. A little bit of booze,a little bit of sex, alittle bit of drugs abut after that, what is there?!
Dustin Hoffman hits the nail on the head. He manages to portray his character too goo. One time he is a horny college boy who just graduated and then he finally starts becoming a man and takes a life-changing decision. Katharine Ross is the equally lost girl he chooses and Anne Bancroft is her mother who got a taste of the honey before giving it to her daughter. I would have chosen the mother but then again what do I know?!
Must watch this : with your hot mature neighbor from next door. Ask for help with a recipe and let her seduce in her kitchen! Then eat the meal she so beautifully cooked.

Something Weird (1967)

A young man is involved in a terrible accident in which he is awfully disfigured in the face and acquires a set of weird psychic powers. A seemingly hot lady (only he can see her true nature) who works as a fortune teller offers to change his face only if he agrees to become her lover. An adventure out of the norm ensues...
One of the most chaotic and out of the blue movies of Herschell Gordon Lewis, Something Weird is by far one of the most unexplainable plots you can ever witness in cinema. The movie easily surfs through karate practice, ghosts, gore, witches, sex and paranormal powers! Some say you have to watch this more than once to grasp its true meaning but truthfully I couldn't! So, any explanation about the meaning merely stays at a simple art-imitates-life and that any nothingness and vanity in finding the meaning simply co-relates to life's own gloomy vanity!
It is indeed as weird a film as the title suggests and the following actors helped their way to make it so. Bombshell Elizabeth Lee and Mudite Arums are essentially the two different sides of the same person and
Tony McCabe is the unlucky fool to witness only the real, unpleasant side. And if that wasn't enough, he has the passionate William Brooker to bust his balls along the way!
Must watch this : sober in order to not to have any second thoughts if it was the film or your lack of consciousness. It was the film, don't bother. Also, I would advise not telling or showing it to anyone as they will get just another reason to take you for a lunatic.

Common Law Cabin (1967) a.k.a How Much Loving Does a Normal Couple Need?

Dewey Hoople runs a tourist trap along the Colorado River with his wife Babette and their daughter Coral. Normally, he pays a local alcoholic to entice tourists to come to his place. Barney Rickett, an ex-detective that has stolen a fortune in unclaimed jewellery, arrives and everything changes...
Originally scheduled and written to be filmed in a Hawaiian tourist paradise but due to budget cuts (of course) set in Arizona, this film certainly delivers what it promises. Russ Meyer, even after his plans and visions had to be changed, does not fail to deliver once again the doses of exploitation we all need. For me, it may have been better that the settings were like that. The everyday vices of everyday people that Meyer portrays can be realized better with the deserted scenery as a background.
A parade of classic exploitation actors here too! Jackie Moran, Babette Bardot, Adele ReinFrank Bolger, Ken Swofford, Alaina Capri and John Furlong. They all blend perfectly good in the given environment and seem to look good with the famous Eastman Color! Unbelievably real characters and unbelievable reactions!
Must watch this :  in deep summer, with a Mojito in hand, cigarettes, sunglasses and sexy company!

The Born Losers (1967)

The Born Losers, a vicious biker gang, harasses little towns, raping young girls and causing trouble at their way. Vicki, a young girl biker, gets in their way and she gets a handful of their brutal treatment. The only one has can stop them and avenge Vicky is none other than Billy Jack...
Tom Laughlin stars and directs this rather better-than-average bikersploitation. Introducing the figure of Billy Jack, a halfbreed Indian living outside the law, this film boasts picturesque scenery and imagery that can make your mind travel to the other side of the Earth. Vicious in its essence, bloody and violent in its mood, this film may not be no Easy Rider or Vanishing Point but it sure gets its work done.
Tom Laughlin is far better as a director than he is an actor, which is hard-cast and a bit stiff! Elizabeth James, on the other hand does a much better job in her role as the innocent but ballsy little rich girl that is looking for excitement in all the wrong places. Jeremy Slate is one lawless, nasty motherfucker leader of the biker gang and he sure is something else.
Must watch this : right before going out with a new friend on a hot Saturday night. Grab a beer, your tobacco, your driving vibe and drive out with no particular destination until the early morning hours. If that ain't freedom, then what is?

Battle Beneath the Earth (1967)

Start buzzing noises are starting to be heard from under the ground in the American west coast. Military authorities will realize that a Chinese general has built underground tunnels running from China to U.S.A's most major military bases. He has put atomic bombs under each target and American soldiers now have to fight the enemy under the ground!
Montgomery Tully's last film as a director is certainly a mixed-feelings one. On the one side you have the Sci-Fi characteristic that makes this film good from the start and on the other side you have the silly plot that's handled poorly! Tunnels that run underneath the Pacific Ocean and Chinese running throughout them? Whaaaaat? You must have been high!
The acting follows the lead of the plot here! Silly and goofy but downright entertaining. Fearless American soldiers throw themselves at the enemy's front lines to save the country (Cold War much???) but their effort is amazingly funny and so is their performance. I still would rather watch this, though, than watch anything on T.V. Stay away from T.V kids, it is a dream killer!
Must watch this : with the bros on a random summer afternoon when you are too bored to go out. Make Tequila Sunrises, chill out and laugh your ass off.

Operación 67 (1967)

A group of counterfeiters and crooked entrepreneurs form a highly sophisticated plan to ruin the economy by creating inflation and then benefit from overtaking the market. There is only one who can stop them and that is no other than the notorious Santo, the silver-masked super spy.
A fine addition to the film legend of Santo. Directed by René Cardona and his son,  René Cardona Jr., the film is incredibly filled with action and equipped with an outstanding exploitation story. The fact that a masked Lucha Libre wrestler turns out to save the day is even more amazing. Incredible women, a story high on marijuana and fighting sequences who would make Jackie Chan jealous. They don't make them like that anymore.
Santo plays Santo (seriously that was his name), a role that he reprized for over 50 movies (!). Elizabeth Campbell stands by his side, a necessary female presence to boost Santo's already great macho figure. Acting in total may seem strange to you but bare in mind that the film is more than 40 years old and that it comes from a culture somewhat different from what you are used to.
Must watch this : on a random summer night with three glasses of fine sangria, some nachos with cheddar and a double bacon cheeseburger, After the film, flex your muscles and feel proud of their volume and tensity!

The Brick Dollhouse (1967)

Attractive model, Min Lee, is found dead in the house she shares with five other model friends. Lt. Parker is assigned to the case and has to hear every side of the story that lead up to the murder of this innocent young lady. What he is about to hear is more than he bargained for!
That time of the week again! Tony Martinez and (uncredited) David F. Friedman direct yet another classic flick in the nudie 60s genre! The plot is thickened and taken to another level as everything sexual in the film is justified by the need to find the killer. How these are connected you have to watch to believe! Groovy tunes on the soundtrack as well, giving that extra 60's sensation we all love. Not a great thinker but it sure is fun!
Top-notch  cast here, and yes the female roles dominate the film. See Tina Vienna, Janice Kelly, Peggy Ann, Joyana and Helena Clayton flaunt their talents (ahem ahem) in modelling and exotic dancing. Of course I am not talking about their acting skills as they are far from existing! But if you're watching this for acting, you already lost the point.
Must watch this : on a lazy Sunday afternoon with your dudes, with good coffee and donuts and some good vibes. While watching it, make a pact that some day you will get rich and successful and throw awesome parties-orgies. After the film, feel sad that this will never happen!

Mundo Depravados (1967)

A number of murders take place in a health club with the working girls being the victims. Two not so bright detectives are assigned to the case and try everything to find the killer.
Herb Jeffrie's one and only attempt as a director. This film actually does have a plot and it is not just for the nude voluptuous ladies (just kidding of course). It may be too simple for a plot but it is a plot. Stop hating! That's why it can stand out from the rest of the ocean of sleaze. But, don't be tricked by the title ; it has nothing to do as a mondo.
The only actor deserving a few lines for this film is none either than the one and only Tempest Storm, and she is not even an actual actor. For those who don't know her, Tempest Storm is (well, not any more but she is still alive) a famous burlesque dancer of her times. She brings a fresh air of buxom to the film but that's about it. Nothing too special!
Must watch this : on a boring Sunday after your usual Saturday party when you just want to watch something meaningless with tits from another decade. Make yourself a cup of Ceylon tea and enjoy.

Good Morning...and Goodbye! (1967)

Eleven different people, eleven different twists in the same story. Burt isn't enough for Angel, Angel finds another guy whom he catches with another woman. Angel finds Justin who finds another gal, Burt and Angel fight and Burt is seduced by a sorceress leaving Angel with Ray!
And then I thought crap like 90210 has a lot of inter-character relationships ! This is different. This is Russ Meyer. With Russ Meyer it's poetic, it's an ode to free love and free-er people. A nostalgic and romantic approach to the depths of human existence and its reasons for sex and violence. All organically bound together under the influence of smooth music in a rough environment!
Russ Meyer is known for picking out the best actors to incarnate his characters. We've said those things again. Stuart Lancaster, an actor who deserves more respect, is the man who can't get his wife, Alaina Capri, enough. Haji, the seducing sorceress, and a number of other talanted actors fill in the gaps. Strong characters, manly men and curvy women all portrayed by actors forgotten in the mists of time and infinite celluloid! Don't let it slip away!
Must watch this : watch this before you go on a date, on a really long and hot summer afternoon. You can use the lines you will pick up from this film on your date. The excitement combined with the heat will make you a different person!

Bonnie & Clyde (1967)

The story of the notorious couple that traveled the Central United States in the years of the Great Depression committing crime after crime with their gang and living their restless burning love.
Ok, this movie may not be an exact depiction of the life and deeds of the two most badass couple in criminal history but it certainly succeeds in providing a more romanticized version of their story. Director Arthur Penn does a great job on this one, with amazing cast, perfectly chosen scenery and sets, detailed costumes and tight dialogues. The overall result is an alternative love story (the only one I would attempt to enjoy) where love is merely a substance that binds two criminal anarchists that have no respect for modern society's laws and ethics. And for that, they have my respect (if they were this way)!
Warren Beaty and Faye Dunaway are the happily married couple here. Their performances are strong and you can see that in their eyes. Anarchy, crime, easy money, passion and a twisted sense of freedom. It's all there in their eyes. Gene Hackman and Michael J. Pollard fill up the scene with equal acting! You can see why they set out to be great actors afterwards.
Must watch this : with your girlfriend/boyfriend on a hot summer night at an open , summer cinema. Then go on and do something illegal and then have sex!
