It! The Terror from Beyond Space (1958)

  A rescue expedition is sent to Mars where a previous expedition was covered in blood ; the only survivor is believed to have murdered all his partners but he states that they were actually attacked by some sort of an alien humanoid. Everyone seems to take the survivor for a lunatic killer until the a weird humanoid makes its appearance...
  Edward L. Cahn was a prolific director in his time and a true representative of the 50's film industry. Though this film does not set any new record or boundary within the genre of Sci-Fi, that does not mean that it is not an enjoyable 70-minute long excuse to relax and let your fantasy travel you. It is a fact that the monster could and should have been much better but in the end that is why we love this cheap and true approach to the alien issue by these people 60 years ago!
  Marshall Thompson is the sole survivor and the one who is charged with murder. He seems to take all this pressure too lightly, especially from douchebags like Robert Bice and Paul Langton who give him a hard time about his story. In the end, truth solves the mystery and Thompson get all the ladies and the credit of killing It, played by Ray Corrigan! A classic American plot twist.
Must watch this :  on a rainy, lazy Sunday after a big barbeque. Get your spoon and your 10kg bowl of ice cream and get lost in the universe of strawberry syrup with chocolate monsters and vanilla aliens!

A Trip To The Moon (1902) a.k.a Le Voyage Dans La Lune

  A group of astronomers travel to the moon in a cannon-propelled spaceship, where they find the Selenites, a local Moon tribe. After, a lot of adventures, they returned to the Earth.
  Holy fuck that shit was tight! Georges Méliès is the man behind this masterpiece of quality cinema, this landmark in human progress. A silent film of course but it lacks nothing in expression. The story itself is enough to make this a Sci-Fi classic, somewhat 40 years before the genre began to gain momentum. Visually exceptional, trippy in its essence, a true dream for psychedelic travelers.
  All humans respecting themselves and all the blood that has been shed in order for humanity to reach this point, need to watch this. There is not even a debate as to whether you like old films or not (and this is fucking old). It has to be seen to believed, it needs your time to prove you that humans can do majestic things if they only try a bit. You don't need special high-tech technology to dream and travel. You only need an open mind and an imagination that can take you anywhere.
Must watch this : on a night with a full moon, with a glass of the finest wine you can find and a couple of open-minded co-travelers.

The Green Slime (1968)

  A giant asteroid is dangerously heading towards our beloved Earth. A selected team of Astronauts embark on a seemingly difficult mission of loading explosives on the asteroid and detonating them. After the mission's success, the team returns to the space station without knowing that they have carried with them a gooey green substance that develops a one-eyed monster as soon as it reacts with electricity . Chaos ensues!
  Accomplished director Kinji Fukasaku (Battle Royale !) puts a lot of effort on this Sci-Fi gem! And his work is actually obvious as this movie does not lack special effects and detailed sets and costumes (ok, besides the monster that is). This is not an average Sci-Fi B-movie. It a real serious effort of its time and shows that collaborations can have admirable results (U.S.A and Japan).
  Robert Horton is a classic American hardass astronaut, Luciana Paluzzi is his movie amore who happens to be extremely hot too and Richard Jaeckel goes right in the middle! Due to the fact that this film is a collaboration between two countries you can actually identify which parts were executed by which country. American acting, American set and costumes, American seriousness but Japanese monsters, Japanese imaginative story and  Japanese directing and progress of the film! Really entertaining
Must watch this : with a person of the opposite sex that you want to impress. Impress them with your knowledge of such films and some geeky food (sushi or whatever) and then surprise them with a total twist of character and throw yourself on them for some steamy-geeky fun! In other words act Japanese and then American on them! Will totally work! Thank me later!

Journey to the Far Side of The Sun (1969) a.k.a Doppelgänger

  A European space program (European Space Exploration Council) discovers a planet in the same orbit as Earth only it is located in the exact opposite side of the sun, thus explaining why it had not been seen so far.After trying to locate funds, the program sends British scientist John Kane along with American astronaut Glenn Ross to explore this new planet.After a disastrous crash-landing on the new-found planet, the two men are rescued and returned to Earth.Or so they think ?!
  Director Robert Parrish provides a high quality Sci-Fi. The plot is smoothly dealt with and the film keeps its Sci-Fi character without entering the psychological realms. The film boasts some quite admirable special effects that give it an enhanced believability.You get beautiful space scenes with the vessel floating peacefully, futuristic machinery in the labs and stations (but not the usual boring bling-blings) and a story-theory that will definitely make you think!
  Actors Roy Thinnes and Patrick Wymark take the lead here and give this film the credit and tone it deserves.Roy Thinnes may seem too unbendy as a portrayal of his character but it must be because of his bitch-but-hot wife Lynn Loring.
  An overall nice film (not a no-brainer), in the mood of its era (space and science fiction madness before and after the landing on the moon) with a nice story good enough to trigger planetary and existencial thoughts to the viewer!
Must enjoy this : on a chilly night,alone and ready for take off!
