Brüno (2009)

Brüno is a gay Austrian tele-persona. After a dramatic change in his luck, his career in Europe is ruined and he decides to travel to America and challenge his potentials there. Almost alone, Brüno will face the "hard" side of America but will find his way in the end...
After Borat's great success (hate it or love it, Borat really changed something in what we call comedy today), Larry Charles and Cohen went on and tried out a second social experiment. The target is again the puritan America and this time the bait for ridicule is homosexuality and social acceptance. But of course, you don't expect anything medium when Cohen gets in the way ; only a good drop of the extreme stuff!
Cohen's talent to fully adapt and delve deeper into his roles is amazing. This is what an actor should anyway but such devotion is rare in our days, no matter how goofy or serious the character is. Cohen manages to project that awkward gay vie that makes all homophobes shake with anger. Ain't that something! Kudos to Gustaf Hammarsten and Clifford Bañagale for some of the most politically incorrect and awkward humorous scenes I've ever seen. Cycling anyone?!
Must watch this : with an open mind. If you feel that you will be offended by homosexuality, you may as well get past this. This could offend both homosexuals and homophobes at the same time! In any other case, make yourself a Cosmopolitan and enjoy this with long, slim cigarettes! Classy!

Borat (2006)

Borat Sagdiyev, a journalist from Kazakhstan is sent to the United States by his government in order to document his interactions with the locals and bring back useful cultural tips to help his country's progress and social development...
With his first appearance being on the great Ali G, Borat finally got his movie in 2006. Breaking all moral and social border, Larry Charles and Sacha Baron Cohen present a film that seems to be jumping from a mockumentary to a scripted comedy every 5 minutes. Apparently, most of the gimmicks in the movie were unscripted and that's why this film holds a great list of lawsuits, even from the government of Kazakhstan. Being so raw and utterly offensive, Borat finally gets his message through, proving that the captivity in which we have let ourselves in simply derives from our pretense!
Simply Sacha Baron Cohen and Ken Davitian and lots of of unaware American people. The shocker and the mocker of the tricks these two pull in public are stunning and awkwardly funny with a special interest in racist jokes pointed to Jews. You gotta love this film just for that!
Must watch this : order from the best Kebab place in your town and watch this with your friends and the fog of heavy garlic and spices that will gather in the air.

Ali G Indahouse (2002)

Ali G, wannabe gangster from Surrey, and his crew, Da West Staines Massiv, do nothing but bring chaos and anarchy in their little town. All that is about to change when they learn that the local leisure centre is about. To save the center and keep it real, Ali G goes into politics...
Based on the TV show Da Ali G Show, directed by Mark Mylod and conceived by Sacha Baron Cohen, this film is definitely off the hook. Handling the right dosages of irony, sarcasm and black humor, Ali G manages to rise up to a cult icon of his times and provide some high quality satire. Everything was studied so good (the accents, the slang, the clothing, the ghetto mentality etc) that it makes me think that these people take their satire seriously!
Sacha Baron Cohen plays Ali G, the loser, no-lifer, wannabe-black gangster whose only occupation is to teach the "Keep It Real" course in the leisure center. What he does, he does so good that at times he becomes the individual that he wants to make fun of! Of course, Martin Freeman could not not be mentioned as Ali's second turned-out-gay hand! Keep it real!
Must watch this : with the dudes, pizza and beer! Before the film do some serious ghetto preparations with dat gangsta tune and after the film go out and dis police on the streets!
