Borat (2006)

Borat Sagdiyev, a journalist from Kazakhstan is sent to the United States by his government in order to document his interactions with the locals and bring back useful cultural tips to help his country's progress and social development...
With his first appearance being on the great Ali G, Borat finally got his movie in 2006. Breaking all moral and social border, Larry Charles and Sacha Baron Cohen present a film that seems to be jumping from a mockumentary to a scripted comedy every 5 minutes. Apparently, most of the gimmicks in the movie were unscripted and that's why this film holds a great list of lawsuits, even from the government of Kazakhstan. Being so raw and utterly offensive, Borat finally gets his message through, proving that the captivity in which we have let ourselves in simply derives from our pretense!
Simply Sacha Baron Cohen and Ken Davitian and lots of of unaware American people. The shocker and the mocker of the tricks these two pull in public are stunning and awkwardly funny with a special interest in racist jokes pointed to Jews. You gotta love this film just for that!
Must watch this : order from the best Kebab place in your town and watch this with your friends and the fog of heavy garlic and spices that will gather in the air.

Seraphim Falls (2006)

The great American outdoors, end of the Civil War. A fierce colonel and his group of gunmen hunt down through the wild nature a man with whom he has a deadly grudge. The hunted eliminates the colonel's men one by one until they are left alone to settle the debt...
David Von Ancken , known T.V director (Californication) , tries his luck with modern western. Despite the fact that it was 40 years after the western era, this film could easily become a classic, given the right chance. All the quality elements are there ; strong character build, a great scenery of deserted and human-less nature, an amazing hunter-hunted story, a burning need for survival and violence!
Most of the weight of the film also falls on the actors that made it happen. Main actors Liam Neeson and Pierce Brosnan show some real talent. You can feel the tension between them as one tries to kill the other to survive. Michael Wincott, Tom Noonan, and Ed Lauter also appear in major roles that support the two main protagonists.
Must watch this : on a cold November night to sympathize with the characters in the film. Get a glass of Jack Daniels, some tobacco for hand-rolled cigarettes and relax by the fire (or your heater ! ) .
