A.C.A.B - All Cops Are Bastards (2012)

The story of a group of riot control force policemen as they struggle through everyday life hardships while trying to find balance between justifiable violence and abuse of power.
Stefano Sollima's first break from television to the big screen, and quite a debut I might add. A highly controversial story and definitely not one that a starting director would choose. But it is worth it. Sollima does not intend to give an answer or a solution to the issue of violent riots and who is right between the cops and the rioters. His intention is to condemn violence and to show that violence only creates and recycles the vicious circle of violence in society. The story may seem that takes that part of the cops but that is wrong. It is viewed by the cops' angle only to show you that everyone is rotten!
Pierfrancesco Favino, Filippo Nigro and Marco Giallini play the main roles in this movie while the rest of the cast surely deserves congratulations too. Giallini is the team's leader and Favino is the group's bad sheep with enough shit on his file to put him on the other side of the law.
Must watch this : with thin crust pizza with pure Italian toppings, a bottle of Peroni beer and your dudes. Then go out and set trash cans on fire.

Carrie (1976)

A young high school girl, abused, bullied and grown up in an overprotective environment with her overly Christian mother, finds out she has telekinetic abilities. She tries very hard to get out of her timid self and start a new life but one final prank she falls for in the senior prom is what will make her understand the full extend of her powers.
When you get Brian De Palma directing something that Stephen King wrote, there is no way in hell that this won't be an instant classic! Incredible atmosphere and a story as good as its' writer's name with just the right doses of drama and horror that you need. I like the way this film can be turned into an urban legend and certainly photography plays a big role in that.
Sissy Spacek plays Carrie here and I don't think they could find someone better for the role. Super-white complexion, thin figure and eyes turning fast from innocent to maniac. Nancy Allen is the classic high school bitch and John Travolta is her douchebag boyfriend. Amy Irving and William Katt are just too benign for the school they are in while Piper Laurie is the maniac Christian mother with nothing other than Jesus up her ass.
Must watch this : on a cool autumn evening, with a glass of red wine and some pizza. Then go out and try to use your force.

Oh oh! Now there is no turning back!
Dear God, forgive my daughter for being so hot!
Super period strikes back!

The Brick Dollhouse (1967)

Attractive model, Min Lee, is found dead in the house she shares with five other model friends. Lt. Parker is assigned to the case and has to hear every side of the story that lead up to the murder of this innocent young lady. What he is about to hear is more than he bargained for!
That time of the week again! Tony Martinez and (uncredited) David F. Friedman direct yet another classic flick in the nudie 60s genre! The plot is thickened and taken to another level as everything sexual in the film is justified by the need to find the killer. How these are connected you have to watch to believe! Groovy tunes on the soundtrack as well, giving that extra 60's sensation we all love. Not a great thinker but it sure is fun!
Top-notch  cast here, and yes the female roles dominate the film. See Tina Vienna, Janice Kelly, Peggy Ann, Joyana and Helena Clayton flaunt their talents (ahem ahem) in modelling and exotic dancing. Of course I am not talking about their acting skills as they are far from existing! But if you're watching this for acting, you already lost the point.
Must watch this : on a lazy Sunday afternoon with your dudes, with good coffee and donuts and some good vibes. While watching it, make a pact that some day you will get rich and successful and throw awesome parties-orgies. After the film, feel sad that this will never happen!

I think she might be on her period

Dead Man (1995)

The wrong man in the wrong time, accountant William Blake ,after losing his chance at a job, gets caught up in a weird situation which results in him killing a man. On the run, trying to survive in the harsh American nature, he meets a Native American called Nobody who prepares for the next step of his life.
Jim Jarmusch directs this poem of a film, a nostalgic black-and-white dream into the untold stories of the cowboys' era. Unique characters harmonically developed in 115 minutes, imprisoned by the complexes of their confused times (but then again what times weren't confusing?), captivated in an environment that looks out to kill them, all mystically bound together by old-time legends and Indian myths.
Amazing cast, giving  life-time performances. Johnny Depp and Gary Farmer grab the wheel here with their unique style. Iggy Pop, Billy Bob Thornton, Alfred Molina and other notable actors fill up the rest of the scene and they all make one sick specimen of society. A must-see for anyone who appreciates anything tasteful.
Must watch this : on a windy November afternoon just as the sun sets. Leave the windows open to let the chill in, grab a well-done steak and your poison of choice and watch this alone or with a company that's worth it. Listen to that afterwards and let the darkness and cold take your mind away.

The Good,The Bad And The Ugly (1966) a.k.a Il Buono, Il Brutto, Il Cattivo

A no-good son of a bitch bounty hunter teams up with two men against another man. Each man's goal is to reach first a remote cemetery where a huge amount of gold is hidden waiting to be retrieved.
Sergio Leone only made some movies (as a director) but what he made he made it count. I could go on and on writing about this movie (as every other person who has seen it) but then its meaning would be lost. One just have to watch this and be ashamed is he still hasn't. Miles of sun and desert, cold-hearted mean driven by money and survival, tons of balls on the music by Ennio Morricone, all forged together under the great guidance by master Leone.
Clint Eastwood, a professor on "Being a fucking man-Advanced". All frigid and swift and macho, he should be a role model for every male born. Eli Wallach, a vivid portrayal of the greediness in men, a man who has lost his mission in life. Lee Van Cleef, a man born to be bad just because he is what he is and for that he goes all the way. The amazing trio that makes this film's main cast, the quintessence of  the Western movie genre, the all-time reference in every other Western movie character that followed. Take off your hat, you swine!
Must watch this : on a fucking hot Saturday morning with a tall glass of whiskey (I don't care what time it is) and huge ass cigar. Study Eastwood's facial expressions and then use them to get laid on that night. It will definitely work!

The Fog (1980)

Small seaside town, Antonio Bay, is preparing to celebrate its Centenary. Bizarre happenings shake up the town as zombie-like ghosts emerge from the fog that has surrounded the area. The citizens are up for a real surprise when they find out that these ghosts are victims of the town's founding fathers and they are out for revenge! No one can escape the fog!
You can expect nothing less than a cult classic when you have John Carpenter directing it! This film boasts an incredible mood and a gloomy atmosphere all bound together in a story that could easily be in an exploitation movie 10 years before its time. Carpenter manages just the right amount of exaggeration and horror and brings a new air in the genre of paranormal activities and old legends!
Jamie Lee Curtis, Adrienne Barbeau, Tom Atkins and Hal Holbrook play the main characters in this all-time classic spook! You gotta love Curtis as always with her naive looks and her own unique way of being a scream queen! Aided by hard-case manly man tom Atkins and ye ol' faithful Hal Holbrook, she is out to teach the ghosts a lesson! Adrienne Barbeau is the unlucky one stuck in the radio station giving another meaning to "Can't stop the party".
Must watch this : on a cold (maybe snowy) January night with your blankets and everything, a cup of instant soup and your cuddling companion.

Akira (1988)

2019. Neo-Tokyo. A biker gang consisting of high school students frequently clashes with another gang, creating violence and anarchy. Gang member Tetsuo will soon find out about his psychic powers and a governmental operation looking out to kill him. Tetsuo soon reaches the maximum of his potential and confronts his gang's leader, Kaneda, while Neo-Tokyo is being demolished.
Written by Katsuhiro Otomo and Izō Hashimoto and directed by Otomo, this anime film is considered to be a breakpoint in anime and manga culture. Combining cyberpunk elements with sci-fi ideas in a classic manga style, Akira is a considered a reference in all anime creations after it. Not being a manga fan myself I have to agree that this is a trully good anime film. It can really put you in the mood of the manga genre even if you are a noob for it.
Excellent old-school manga work done here! I don't find modern manga style attractive at all, but in this film the writers and sketchers really provide a high-end piece. The film is elevated to another level with its story, providing enough food for thought to last for days. High quality animation and character development, this film is a must-see.
Must watch this : in original Japanese audio for originality, on a chill November evening with noodle soup and some cranberry juice.
